The Arc has developed a Disability Awareness Training program for students in elementary schools. It provides factual information at an age appropriate level and also helpful hints to students on how to be friends with their peers who have disabilities. This program is coordinated by a retired elementary teacher with over thirty years of experience. Sessions can be scheduled by contacting mstiefel@dejazzd.com or calling the Arc 394-5251.
While there is no charge for this service, we do encourage a donation to the Arc of Lancaster County. Most appreciated are student classroom projects such as Pennies for People, Walk for the Arc, Class Bake Sale, etc.
In addition to training for elementary students, the Arc has a Speakers Bureau for service and civic organizations, clubs, pre-service educator classes, religious school educators, professional organizations, and the general public. We share the stories of the people the Arc serves and can tailor our presentations to your needs and interests.
Contact Peggy or call the Arc 394-5251 to schedule a speaker. There is no charge for this service, but a donation to the Arc of Lancaster County is encouraged.
